Powering Place Unlocking Potential
Yorkshire Universities (YU), the representative body for universities and higher education institutions in Yorkshire, has published a new five-year strategy that will amplify regional strengths, unlock new investment and ideas, and strengthen partnership work to help drive benefits and positive impacts for people, places and business.
The new YU 2025–2030 Strategy, Powering Place Unlocking Potential, has three key strategic priorities:
Amplifying Regional Strengths
Be an influential national and global voice for Yorkshire.
Unlocking New Ideas and Investment
Foster an interconnected, interdependent higher education sector in Yorkshire, which is confident in securing investment and demonstrating public value.
Partnering to Drive Inclusive Place-based Impacts
Promote a prosperous and distinctive Yorkshire region shaped by collaboration, where higher education is a proactive change agent.
YU will work closely with its members to deliver on these objectives and facilitate strategic collaborations with the higher education sector and partners to grow economic prosperity, resilience, and opportunity in Yorkshire.

“Our new five-year Strategy presents an ambitious framework to demonstrate and utilise the value of our members capabilities and assets. By underpinning the Strategy on a core mission designed to strengthen and deepen collaborations with industry, governments and communities, YU will work with partners to create an environment for enhanced and sustained prosperity, based on increasing opportunities, unlocking talent and enterprise, attracting and retaining investment, and creating quality, high-skilled, jobs.”
